Movement of melons from the field to the consumer involves several handling points. Care is required along this chain to maintain melon quality and to prevent mechanical damage. Why is Proper Melon Moving Important? Movement of melons involves physical handling by workers and machinery. Appropriate handling avoids fruit damage. Moving melons will also influence fruit temperature which can change shelf life and quality. "
