Plant Nutrients and Crop Production

Developed by Dr. HB Singh - IFDC Plants provide food for human beings and animals in the form of fruit (apples, bananas, tomatoes), leaves (spinach, cabbage), grain (maize, rice), stems (sugarcane, broccoli), and roots and tubers (cassava, potato). With an increase in population, the need for food is increasing, creating a greater demand for agricultural products. Plants are living organisms like people and animals. For growth and to remain healthy, plants require food and suitable environment. Plants cannot move around in search of food. However, plants produce their own food through a process called photosynthesis.
